Library Winter Reading Program in San Diego (Jan. 2024)
We're big fans of library reading programs! I love it obviously because it inspires my kids to read more, but they love it for the prizes they get; which usually include a museum pass, a restaurant voucher and an activity or game.
San Diego Public Library Winter Reading Program Details
This reading program themes change every year but they all encourage readers of all ages to explore their world around them through literature. Read any combination of 5 books, 5 hours or 5 "kindness" activities to claim your prizes.
WHEN: January 1-31, annually
WHAT: Read any combination of 5 books, 5 hours or 5 related "kindness" activities (listed on the reading log page)
SDPL has a list of Book suggestions for Read For A Better World by age PreK, K-5, Middle-High School, Adults. Click on "Reading Recommendations".
HOW: sign up to log your reading or activities and when you're all done head to your nearest participating library to claim your prizes
WHO: It's for ALL ages! Kids get special age-related prizes as do adults so join your kids with their reading challenge and lead by example. ;)
PRIZES: These vary each year from museum tickets to food vouchers for local restaurants or library-branded school supplies and bags.
Prizes are available for pick up between while supplies last. If your local library has run out of prizes, call another location to see if they still have any left before you go.
