This is a great spot for a Sunset Dinner because it's so close to @porkylandmexicangrill 👆 at @delmarhighlands. There are lots of other restaurant options across the street from Del Mar Highlands at @onepaseo. 😉 So grab your carnitas, go spread your blanket out and enjoy the views! 🌮 🌅 👍
What Is It
One of the best coastal parks to take your kids! Perched above a wide sandy beach, this large grassy space is perfect for a picnic, some frisbee and taking in the sunset views. 🌅
Why We Love It
It's large enough to spread out so even if there's a lot of people around, you can easily keep a large distance here and not come into contact with anyone. Except for maybe in passing as you go down the hill leading to the beach or near the bathrooms. 💚
The Amtrak trains run literally right next to this park so you can hear and see the trains up close. Perfect for those train loving kiddos. 🚂
There's a playground 🤸🏻♀️ just south of here at Seagrove Park that's a quick 3 minute walk, but don't worry you can't really see if from here so your kids won't be tempted if you're not doing them right now. 😉
Sometimes you can see dolphins swimming in the ocean 🐬 and it's a fun place to watch the surfers. 🏄♀️
Good To Know:
The beach is down the hill far enough away from this large grassy picnic area, so kids won't be kicking sand onto your blanket or getting it in your food.😝 🏖 👍

Yes! It’s very close to nearby parking on the street, meters or the pay lot right across the street so it doesn't take much to haul everything over here from your car. It's pretty level and flat, no stairs. ADA Accessible entrance.
🌱 GROUNDS
Flat pathways, flat grassy area with a slight incline from the sidewalk. There's a small paved (but sandy) incline doing down to the beach, but it's flat and paved going over to the bathrooms and lookout area.
🐶 DOGS
Sorry, no dogs are allowed at Powerhouse Park or Seagrove Playground. Dogs are allowed on the South Beach and North Beach. Details here.
🥪 EATS
BYO Food + Drinks is allowed. There is NO onsite cafe. Food & coffee shops are nearby. Check out One Paseo and Del Mar Highlands Town Center for some good local restaurants where you can order takeout from.
